‘Made in India’ locomotives will run on the tracks of Africa, India will supply 150 rail engines to Guinea
Indigenous train engines made in India will soon be seen running on the tracks of the African country Guinea. Yes, India will supply a total of 150 engines i.e. locomotives to Guinea. These engines will be manufactured at the Railway Locomotive Factory located in Marhaura, Bihar. The Railway Ministry gave this information on Monday. The Railway Ministry said that India will supply 150 engines worth more than Rs 3000 crore within the next 3 years. Dilip Kumar, Executive Director, Information and Publicity Department of Railway Board, said, “37 locomotives will be exported in the current financial year, while 82 locomotives will be exported in the next financial year. While the remaining 31 locomotives will be exported in the third year.”
Engines will be able to easily run with a train of 100 coaches
Dilip Kumar said that all these locomotives will be air conditioned. 2 locomotives together will be able to easily pull trains with 100 coaches with the maximum allowable speed. The ministry said that 3 types of tracks – broad gauge, standard gauge and Cape gauge – have been laid in the Marhowra factory complex for the manufacture of these locomotives. Let us tell you that India has secured this deal through global competitive bidding. Dilip Kumar said, “These locomotives are equipped with DPWCS (Distributed Power Wireless Control System) for synchronized operation and better freight handling. This establishes the Marhowra factory as a global hub for locomotive exports, strengthening local employment and technical capacity.” Indian engines will contribute to Guinea’s largest iron ore project The ministry stressed that the export of locomotives will contribute to the creation of infrastructure for Guinea’s largest iron ore project, deepening India-Africa economic cooperation. Kumar said, “This is a great example of self-reliant India empowering global infrastructure through innovation and quality manufacturing at the Marhowra factory in Bihar, where 285 people are directly employed and 1215 people are indirectly employed.” “Besides this, more than 2,100 people are working for the joint venture across the country for services and other works,” he said.
