Online cab service provider Ola on Tuesday announced a very good news for lakhs of cab drivers in the country. Ola said that it will no longer take any kind of commission from the cab drivers. With this decision of Ola, more than 10 lakh drivers associated with the company will now be able to keep the entire money earned from any ride, now they will not need to pay any kind of commission to the company. This decision of the company will lead to a tremendous increase in the earnings of Ola cab drivers.
Ola implemented zero commission model across the country
The company said that drivers will be able to keep the entire earnings from the fare without any limit related to rides or income. The company said in a statement that under this initiative, cab drivers can choose their own plan and can also keep the full fare without any deduction or limit. This commission model has been implemented across the country. Auto-rickshaw, bike and cab services come under its purview.
What did the company say on the new decision
A spokesperson for Ola Consumer said, “The introduction of a 0 percent commission model across India represents a fundamental shift in ride service businesses. Removing commissions gives partner drivers a lot more ownership and opportunity.” Describing partner drivers as the backbone of the transport ecosystem, the spokesperson said, “Giving them full control over their earnings will help build a more resilient and sustainable ride business network across the country.”
The new model was first implemented for auto drivers
Ola said that the new commission model was implemented in different phases, starting with Ola Auto and then it was implemented in Ola Bikes and Ola Cabs. Along with this, Ola expressed its commitment to the safety of passengers and said that other stringent safety protocols are followed, including driver background checks, vehicle quality standards and emergency features on the app.
