Tesla’s rival VinFast opens largest showroom in Chennai, will soon start selling EVs
Electric vehicle (EV) maker VinFast has launched its second showroom in India. This showroom of Vietnam’s VinFast has been opened in Chennai, Tamil Nadu. This is the company’s largest retail outlet. Tesla’s rival VinFast’s VF 6 and VF 7 will soon be sold in the country. Booking for these has started.
By the end of this year, VinFast plans to open 35 showrooms in 27 cities in India. The company’s first showroom in the country was launched in Surat, Gujarat. VinFast has also prepared to build a strong charging network for its EVs. For this, the company has tied up with RoadGrid and myTVS. VinFast’s factory is also being set up in Tamil Nadu. The initial annual capacity of this factory will be around 50,000 units. The company displayed its electric vehicles at the Bharat Mobility Global Expo held earlier this year. The company is trying to increase its sales in Asian countries instead of expanding in North America and Europe.
VinFast’s VF7 is a premium SUV. It will compete in the mid-size electric SUV segment. Its length is 4.5 meters. It has 18-inch alloy wheels. VF7 will have two motor options. The single motor in VF7 Plus will generate 201 bhp of power and up to 310 Nm of torque. Apart from this, VF7 Plus AWD will have a dual-motor setup. Both these variants will be given a battery pack of 75.3 kWh. Its range on a single charge can be around 450 km. It will have features like ambient lighting, panoramic sunroof, level 2 ADAS. VinFast has not given information about the prices of its EVs.
Last month, billionaire Elon Musk’s Tesla started its business in India. The first showroom of this American company has been opened in Mumbai. Tesla has started taking online orders for its Model Y. This electric SUV will be delivered on priority in Delhi, Mumbai, Gurugram and Pune. The starting price of this electric SUV is Rs 59.89 lakh. It is available in two variants – rear wheel drive and long-range rear wheel drive.
