Zomato increased platform fees by 20%, ordering food online became expensive
People ordering food online will now have to pay more money than before. Online food delivery company Zomato has increased the platform fee for its services by 20 percent. Zomato will now charge Rs 12 as platform fee on each order, which was Rs 10 earlier. The company has increased the platform fee with the aim of making each of its orders more profitable and increasing the company’s profits before the festive season begins.
Zomato’s platform fee increased from Rs 2 to Rs 12
Let us tell you that the platform fee charged by Zomato is a kind of service charge, which is charged for using the company’s platform. Zomato started charging platform fees from its users for ordering food from April 2023. At that time, Zomato used to charge only Rs 2 as platform fee from its users on each order. But, the company has increased its platform fee several times in the last two and a half years, due to which it has increased from Rs 2 to Rs 12.
Zomato delivers 23-25 lakh orders daily
According to a report by Moneycontrol, Zomato delivers around 23 to 25 lakh orders daily across the country. That is, with a platform fee of Rs 12, the company will now generate a revenue of about Rs 3 crore daily, which was earlier around Rs 2.5 crore at the rate of Rs 10. With this, the company will get an extra revenue of about Rs 45 crore every quarter.
Apart from platform fee, the food delivery company also charges delivery charge
Zomato also charges delivery charge from its customers on each order in addition to platform fee. Customers have to pay platform fee, delivery charge, restaurant fee and GST to order food online.
