Dream11 launches gaming platform in 11 countries: The company is offering free games here; impact of the ban on money-based gaming

India’s largest fantasy sports company, Dream11, has launched its platform in 11 countries simultaneously. These countries include major markets like the United States, the United Kingdom, Australia, and the UAE.

Dream11 took this step after its core business model was hit by changes in online gaming laws in India.

The Indian government recently introduced a new law banning online money-based gaming. Due to the new law, Dream11’s revenue has decreased by 95 percent.

Model changed after the ban on money-based gaming

Following the new laws, Dream11 has adopted a free-to-play (free-to-play) model. The revenue of this model is now based on advertising and sponsorships. Other countries where Dream11 has launched its platform include New Zealand, Canada, Malaysia, Nepal, Bangladesh, South Africa, and Sri Lanka.

Most importantly, the company will not offer real-money games in these new markets, meaning revenue will remain focused on advertising.
