Company Announces Acquisition of HPE’s Telco Solutions Business

IT services company HCLTech has taken a major step to strengthen its presence in the telecom sector. The company announced that it will acquire Hewlett Packard Enterprise’s (HPE) Telco Solutions business. The total value of this deal could reach up to $160 million. Through this acquisition, HCLTech will further strengthen its engineering and AI-based networking capabilities for global communication service providers.

HCLTech stated that this new acquisition, following an initial deal with HPE in 2024, will provide the company with industry-leading intellectual property (IP), product engineering and research and development (R&D) talent, as well as strong client relationships with leading communication service providers worldwide. The Telco Solutions business’s platforms and products support over 1 billion devices through more than 200 deployments globally.

What does the Telco Solutions Business do?

According to the company, this Telco Solutions business provides services such as Operations Support Systems (OSS), Home Subscriber Server (HSS), and 5G Subscriber Data Management (SDM). It also includes advanced AI-based closed-loop network automation, which facilitates network monetization. This business was previously part of HPE’s Communications Technology Group (CTG), some assets of which HCLTech acquired in 2024.

HCLTech stated that the previously acquired CTG portfolio—which includes Business Support Systems (BSS), network applications, service cloudification, and data intelligence—has been successfully integrated and the business is growing steadily. With this new acquisition, HCLTech will further accelerate network transformation, Network-as-a-Service (NaaS), and AI-based autonomous networking. Under this agreement, approximately 1500 engineering and telecom specialists from nearly 39 countries will join HCLTech’s global delivery team, enabling the company to further expand its telecom solutions business globally.
