Within 8 to 9 months, this company hired approximately 30,000 employees and invested ₹20,000 crore.

Taiwanese electronics giant Hon Hai Precision Industry Company (Foxconn) has hired approximately 30,000 employees at its new iPhone assembly plant in Devanahalli, near Bengaluru, in just 8 to 9 months.

According to The Economic Times, this is considered the fastest factory scale-up ever in India. Trial production at the plant began in April-May 2025, assembling iPhone 16 models. Now, the iPhone 17 Pro Max is being manufactured there. More than 80% of the iPhones produced at this factory are being exported overseas.

High proportion of female employees

This rapid hiring process points to Apple’s strategy of reducing its dependence on China and expanding its manufacturing base to other countries, particularly India. The factory, spread across 300 acres, is primarily operated by women. Approximately 80 percent of the workforce at this factory is female. Most of them are between 19 and 24 years old and are entering the workforce for the first time.
