Tata Group Company Announces Major Acquisition

Tata Group’s hospitality company, Indian Hotels Company Limited (IHCL), has announced that it has acquired a 51% stake in Brij Hospitality. The deal is valued at approximately ₹193 crore. Brij Hospitality operates boutique and experiential leisure hotels under the Brij Hotels brand. IHCL stated in an official release that definitive agreements have been signed for this acquisition.

Through this deal, IHCL will gain ownership of the Brij brand and, in collaboration with its founding promoters, will further strengthen its presence in the boutique leisure hotel segment in India. IHCL, India’s largest hospitality company by market capitalization, is listed on both the BSE and NSE.

IHCL’s Statement

Puneet Chhatwal, Managing Director and CEO of IHCL, said that the Indian hospitality sector is witnessing sustained demand driven by rising disposable incomes and a growing preference for experiential leisure. In light of this increasing demand, IHCL aims to further strengthen its position in key cultural, spiritual, and wildlife tourism destinations across the country through this acquisition.

He further added that Brij Hotels’ presence in offbeat locations such as Jaipur, Varanasi, Ranthambore, the North Indian hills, the Northeast, and Goa, diversifies IHCL’s hotel portfolio. Following this acquisition, IHCL’s total hotel portfolio has increased to 610 hotels.
