After the airport in Jewar, now chip revolution, semiconductor plant will be set up at a cost of 3706 crores, UP will get a new identity
Jewar of Uttar Pradesh has got another big gift from the central government. The central government has approved the setting up of the sixth semiconductor plant here at a cost of 3706 crores. On Wednesday, the cabinet of the Modi government approved India’s sixth semiconductor plant in Jewar (UP). This plant will be a joint venture of HCL and Foxconn. This plant will manufacture 36 million (3.6 crore) mobile phones, laptops, computers, automobile display driver chips per month. It is worth noting that this is the second big gift to Jewar from the central government. Earlier, Noida International Airport is being constructed in Jewar. Service is expected to start from this airport anytime this year.
Ashwini Vaishnav gave information
Union Minister Ashwini Vaishnav said that the Union Cabinet has approved India’s sixth semiconductor unit in Jewar, Uttar Pradesh. So far, 5 semiconductor units have been approved under the India Semiconductor Mission and construction work is going on there at a fast pace. Production will start in one unit this year. There is another super-advanced unit in this series. It will be a joint venture of HCL and Foxconn.
2,000 new jobs will be created
Minister Ashwini Vaishnav said that the proposed HCL-Foxconn semiconductor plant will make display driver chips for mobile phones, laptops, vehicles and other devices. The official statement said that the proposed factory will produce 20,000 wafers (thin layer of semiconductor material silicon) per month. This will create about 2,000 jobs. An investment of 3,700 is estimated in this new semiconductor factory.
Foxconn is the largest manufacturer of electronic products. It also makes Apple’s iPhone. Vaishnav said, “We believe that once this unit comes here, the display panel plant will also come to India. It will meet 40 percent of India’s capacity. This is a big plant. It will also meet Foxconn’s needs for the rest of the world.” The minister said the HCL-Foxconn joint venture will become operational in 2027. He said the electronics manufacturing industry in India currently employs about 25 lakh people. Vaishnav said, “Semiconductors are the basic component. This will have a multiplier effect on the entire electronics manufacturing in the country.”
