A Tata Group company also assembles iPhones for Apple. An IANS report said that large-scale manufacturing of the upcoming iPhone 17 has started. This smartphone is being manufactured at Foxconn’s Bengaluru and Chennai units. Taiwan’s Foxconn has the second largest factory in Bengaluru after China. It is being told that Apple plans to assemble more units of iPhones in India. This year the assembly of iPhones may increase to six crore units.

Recently, a media report said that Foxconn started importing iPhone 17 components from China in June. iPhone 16 and iPhone 14 are also being assembled at Foxconn’s factory. The company’s upcoming smartphone series may include iPhone 17, iPhone 17 Pro and iPhone 17 Pro Max. The new iPhone series can be launched on September 9.

Apple has maintained its strong performance in the smartphone market in India in the first half of this year. In the first half, Apple has shipped about 59 lakh units. This is an increase of 21.5 percent year-on-year. The company’s iPhone 16 has been the best-selling smartphone in the country during this period. iPhone 16 accounts for four percent of total smartphone shipments. Apple also plans to open new retail stores in the country soon. Recently, the company’s CEO, Tim Cook, gave this information during the announcement of quarterly results. This will make it easier for Apple to increase its sales in India, a big market for smartphones.
