Zomato launches new ‘Healthy Mode’: Founder Deepinder Goyal says, “Now food isn’t just for taste, it’s also for health.”

Online food delivery platform Zomato launched a ‘Healthy Mode’ in its app. Zomato founder Deepinder Goyal shared the news in a post on the social media platform X.

This feature is currently live only for Gurugram users. It will soon be rolled out to other cities.

A Health Score will also be displayed alongside each dish.

Deepinder Goyal wrote in the post, “For years, one thing about Zomato bothered me. We made it very easy for people to eat out and order food at home. But we never really helped people eat nutritious and healthy food.

Yes, you could find a salad or a smoothie bowl. But if you wanted nutritious or healthy food, Zomato wasn’t very helpful. This bothered me.” Because when we say our mission is “Better Food for More People,” we mean “better” and “better” shouldn’t just mean taste, but also health.

Today, we’ve taken a big step towards addressing this shortcoming. We’re launching Healthy Mode on Zomato. In this mode, each dish will be accompanied by a Healthy Score, ranging from low to super.

This score isn’t just based on calories, but on the essential nutrients your body needs, including protein, complex carbs, fiber, and micronutrients. Behind the scenes, AI and restaurant data are at work, but you’ll clearly see why a dish is healthy and what’s special about it.

Professional athletes will also be able to use it.

This isn’t a typical “Healthy Mode.” We’ve set the bar high enough that even professional athletes can use it with confidence. This is very personal to me. I’ve always felt guilty that Zomato made it easy to satisfy your cravings, but not to meet your body’s needs.

Healthy Mode is our first concrete step to correct this mistake. It’s currently live in Gurugram, and we’ll be expanding it to more locations soon. Try it, find out what’s wrong, and let us know where we’re falling short. Because this is just the beginning, and for the first time, I feel like we’re truly moving towards fulfilling our mission of ‘Better Food for More People.’
