AI Will Take Over 5 Human Jobs: Artificial Intelligence Will Soon Perform These Tasks, McKinsey Reveals
Artificial intelligence (AI) is rapidly expanding its reach across the world, and along with it, discussions are underway about its ability to easily perform tasks currently done by humans. In a way, the conversation is about AI potentially taking away human jobs. Now, a recent report has emerged with surprising revelations about AI. New research from McKinsey clarifies how artificial intelligence could change the way people work in the coming years. However, this report doesn’t predict job losses. Instead, the new Skill Change Index shows that AI will impact some roles more than others.
The McKinsey report identifies the human roles and activities that are most likely to be automated or largely taken over by AI agents and robots. AI could replace or automate these tasks currently performed by humans:
Legal and Administrative Roles
AI agents can handle a significant amount of work in these areas, including document preparation, research and information processing, and routine legal and administrative workflows. These tasks are typically handled by paralegals, administrative assistants, and back-office staff.
Office Support and Routine Information Processing
This includes common computer-based tasks such as data entry, record keeping, scheduling, and basic analysis and reporting. These tasks can already be easily handled by software agents.
Drivers and Routine Physical Operators
Tasks involving repetitive physical work can be easily handled by robotics. This includes delivery and transport drivers and machine operators on production lines. Robots can perform physical tasks and navigation in a controlled manner.
Warehouse and Logistics Workers
Robots can be increasingly used in warehouses and logistics centers. This includes moving goods around, lifting and placing items, and locating and storing packages.
Routine Programming and Technical Tasks
This includes generating boilerplate code for software development and coding, automated testing, and modernizing legacy systems, all of which can be easily handled by AI agents. This can significantly save time on coding tasks.
