Government Launches ‘Common Landing Portal’: Now Easily Find Unclaimed Funds
There are many individuals in the country whose assets—such as bank deposits, insurance claims, shares, or mutual funds—remain unclaimed. This often occurs because they are unaware of the existence of these funds or investments, or, in many cases, fail to file a claim within the stipulated time. To address this issue, the Ministry of Finance recently launched a new unified online portal. Through this platform, citizens can now easily search for and track their unclaimed financial assets. The portal has been introduced with the objective of enhancing transparency within the financial system and providing people with easy access to their forgotten funds.
How to Find Your Assets
This platform offers a search facility covering various financial services and assets, including bank deposits, insurance claims, shares, dividends, and mutual funds. The portal is accessible at https://www.unclaimedassetsportal.in. Here, users can find information regarding unclaimed money or assets held across different financial institutions—all in one centralized location. Previously, individuals had to visit various banks or institutions individually to gather such information.
According to the Ministry of Finance, this initiative has been launched in alignment with the vision of “Viksit Bharat 2047” (Developed India 2047). Its primary objective is to foster financial empowerment and inclusion, while simultaneously bolstering public trust in the financial system. The government believes that this platform will enable common citizens to easily access information regarding their rightful assets and reclaim the funds due to them. The portal has been developed with the assistance of the PSB Alliance.
Part of the ‘Your Money, Your Right’ Campaign
The Ministry of Finance stated that this initiative forms an integral part of the ongoing “Your Money, Your Right” campaign. Under this campaign, financial sector regulators, banks, and other institutions are collaborating to raise public awareness regarding unclaimed funds. While launching the portal, Finance Secretary M. Nagaraju remarked that this represents a significant step forward in enhancing convenience for citizens. This will provide people with multiple search facilities on a single platform, enabling them to easily track the assets to which they are entitled. The government believes that this portal will prove to be a major reform towards a transparent and citizen-centric financial system.
