FSSAI Issues Notices to Dr. Reddy’s, Nestlé, Flipkart, and Amazon Over Advertising Claims

The Food Safety and Standards Authority of India (FSSAI) has issued notices to several companies regarding advertisements and claims related to ‘CELEVIDA GLP+’ that allegedly violate regulations.

Notices have been issued to Dr. Reddy’s, Nestlé Health Science Limited, Tirupati Wellness Private Limited, Flipkart India Private Limited, Amazon Seller Services Private Limited, and Netmeds Healthcare Limited.

Questions Raised Over Claims Linking Product to GLP-1/GIP Therapy

According to the FSSAI, the product was advertised as offering “High Protein Support for Lean Muscle Preservation during GLP-1/GIP Therapies.”

The Authority observed that these claims linked the consumption of the product to GLP-1/GIP therapy and the preservation of lean muscle. The FSSAI noted that such claims imply the product is suitable for a specific medical condition.

Objections Regarding the Name ‘CELEVIDA GLP+

The notice states that using the brand name ‘CELEVIDA GLP+’ alongside claims related to GLP-1/GIP therapy could create a misleading association in the minds of consumers between the product and these therapies.

Claims Related to Lean Muscle and Muscle Strength

Key observations by the FSSAI also highlight claims such as “Helps Maintain Lean Muscle,” “supports muscle strength,” and “preserves lean mass.”

According to the Authority, these claims suggest that the product can assist in weight loss and help mitigate the loss of lean body mass during GLP-1/GIP therapy. The FSSAI has sought a response from the concerned companies regarding these advertisements and claims.
