Smartphone demand has increased significantly in the first quarter of 2021. Canalys, however, has also stated that there may be a decrease in smartphone demand in India in the second quarter of the year. Currently, the second wave of COVID-19 epidemic in India has resulted in a lockdown in many cities, which can also have an impact on sales.

Xiaomi becomes market leader

According to the Canalys report, Chinese smartphone manufacturer Xiaomi has emerged as the leader of the Indian smartphone market once again. The company has a market share of 28 percent. Xiaomi has shipped around 10.5 million units in India in the first quarter of the year. After this, the South Korean smartphone company Samsung has a market share. The company shipped around 7 million units in the first quarter of the year. The company has a market share of 19 percent.

Vivo, another Chinese smartphone maker, has increased its market share in the first quarter of the year. Vivo’s market share has increased to 18 percent. The company shipped 6.7 million units in the first quarter of the year. At the same time, OPPO has a total market share of 13 percent. The company shipped 4.7 million units in the first quarter of the year. Realme, another BBK Electronics company, ranked fifth. The company has a market share of 12 percent. The company shipped 3.9 million units in India in the first quarter of the year.
