A bench of NCLT made in Chennai, companies in South States will be at ease

Union Finance and Corporate Affairs Minister Nirmala Sitharaman said that setting up a bench of the National Company Law Appellate Tribunal (NCLAT) in Chennai would help the companies in the southern states and the parties to the related promises. She said that setting up of another bench of NCLAT will help in reducing the number of pending cases.

Sitharaman inaugurated the Chennai bench of this NCLAT. The bench will hear appeals against the decisions of the Company Law Tribunal (NCLT) in respect of companies falling in Karnataka, Tamil Nadu, Kerala, Andhra Pradesh, Lakshadweep and Pondicherry regions. This is the fifth appellate bench.

As per an official release, two members of NCLAT Delhi Bench, Balwinder Singh (Member Technical) and Justice Venugopal M., have taken over the newly established NCLAT in Chennai. The statement said that five new benches of NCLT have been announced. It will be set up in Jaipur, Cuttack, Kochi, Indore and Amravati.
