This feature of Twitter closed after eight months of launch, testing was done in India for five months

Twitter launched its Fleets in India in November last year. Before launching Fleets was tested for about five months and now within just eight months, Twitter has decided to shut down Fleets.

Twitter has said in one of its tweets that Fleets is being discontinued from August 3 and a new feature is in the works. Testing of Twitter Fleets started in India, Brazil, Italy and South Korea in June last year and lasted till November.

Twitter says that people did not like Fleets much. Its users also did not see the expected increase, although this is not the first time that Twitter has stopped any of its services. Earlier, Periscope was also closed by Twitter in December 2020. Periscope was Twitter’s live-streaming app.

Apart from this, the company also stopped a feature last year which was for thread reply. For this too, Twitter did testing for several months but it was closed after people’s feedback.

In August 2018, Twitter also discontinued APIs for the Apple Watch, Twitter for Mac and Windows apps. Twitter closed it and said that it is shutting down this old developer tool. The company had said that its app and web version is perfect for the best experience of the users.
