Maruti Suzuki Electric Vehicles: The new CEO said a big thing as soon as he came, know what is being done to make Maruti the number-1 in electric vehicle

New Delhi: Country’s largest carmaker Maruti Suzuki India (MSI) is gearing up to launch several electric vehicle models to take on the competition and become a leader in the electric vehicles (EV) space. However, the company does not have any model in this area yet. The company’s new Managing Director and Chief Executive Officer (CEO) Hisashi Takeuchi said this. The company plans to launch the first electric vehicle model in 2025. It is also looking at manufacturing electric vehicles in its factories in future as the demand for EVs in the country increases. The first EV model will be manufactured at Suzuki Motor’s Gujarat plant.

Takeuchi said, “We have lagged behind our competitors in terms of launching EV models in the Indian market, however, the demand for EVs in the market is limited. In fact, the sales of electric vehicles in the Indian market are still very limited. We have been testing EVs with our existing models for over a year now. This test is being done according to the Indian environment to ensure that our EV technology is good for India’s environment.”

Takeuchi said that the company will launch the first electric vehicle in 2025 and then several models will be launched one after the other. He said that electric vehicles are very expensive and it is very difficult to make affordable electric vehicles with current technology. Asked if this means that the company’s first EV will not be priced below Rs 10 lakh, Takeuchi said, “I can’t give you a clear answer, but it will cost less while remaining competitive on the cost front.” It is very difficult to get an expensive electric vehicle. The reason for this is the cost of the battery.
