The company had the highest market share in the first quarter of the year. During this time the company had shipped the maximum number of phones. According to the latest IDC report, Samsung’s market share stood at 23.4 percent in the first quarter of the year ended March.
Samsung has shipped 73.6 million units during this period, which is the highest compared to other companies. However, Samsung’s market share has decreased compared to last year. The company shipped 74.5 million units in the first quarter of last year.
Apple’s increased market share
At the same time, American smartphone brand Apple occupies the second place with 18 percent market share. Apple shipped 56.6 million units in the first quarter of the year, up 2.2 percent from last year.
Talking about Chinese smartphone companies Xiaomi, OPPO, Vivo, Xiaomi is in third place with 12.7 percent market share. At the same time, BBK Electronics’ smartphone brands OPPO and Vivo have been ranked third and fourth respectively. According to the report, Xiaomi shipped 39.9 million units in the first quarter. Oppo has shipped 27.4 million units while Vivo has shipped 25.3 million units during this period.
Kernel shipment of Chinese companies
Like Samsung, there has been a decline in phone shipments of all three Chinese companies. Vivo’s shipments declined the most at 27.7%. At the same time, OPPO’s shipments have declined by 26.8%. Whereas, Xiaomi’s shipments have seen a decline of 17.8% year-on-year.
According to IDC, shipments of smartphone companies have decreased due to supply chain problems. Due to the problem in the supply chain, there is a problem in making the core components of the phone. At the same time, it has also been said in the report that due to the global economic crisis and inflation, the demand for the phone has also decreased.
