Tata Power Renewable Energy to set up 100 MW solar project in Maharashtra.

New Delhi, Sep 8 (PTI) Tata Power Renewable Energy Limited (TPREL) on Thursday said it will set up a 100 MW solar power project in Maharashtra.

Tata Power Renewable Energy is a unit of Tata Power. The company said that this power project is being set up for Viraj Profiles Private Limited (VPPL), which manufactures stainless steel. VPPL operates a plant at Tarapur in Nandgaon.

Tata Power Renewable Energy Limited (TPREL) said in a statement, “The company has tied up with VPPL for setting up a captive solar plant with a capacity of 100 MW. The plant is expected to generate around 200 MU of electricity every year. This will reduce carbon dioxide emissions by about 170.4 million kg annually.

With the commissioning of this plant, the dependence of Viraj Profile on non-renewable energy resources will be reduced by about 50 percent.

The plant is expected to be commissioned by July 2023, TPREL said in a statement. The statement did not give financial details of the project.
