PLI Scheme: New areas can also get 35000 crores, new jobs will be created.

The government is considering a Rs 35,000 crore PLI scheme for cycles, leather, some vaccine materials and some telecom products. This will give a boost to domestic manufacturing, while employment will also be created.

Sources said the Production Based Incentive (PLI) scheme could be extended to toys as well as some chemicals and shipping containers. This proposal is currently being discussed. In the inter-ministerial discussions, there has been talk of extending the PLI to all these areas. This decision has been taken after such demand from these industries and some departments.

The government has extended the Rs 2 lakh crore PLI scheme to 14 sectors. An official said, out of this 2 lakh crore, some amount is still left. Plans to extend it to other areas are still under discussion.

Plan to attract investment

An official said that the objective of the PLI scheme is to make Indian companies globally competitive. Also to attract investment in the areas of modern technology. Along with ensuring efficiency, the goal is also to increase the economy and exports.
