Software company Pegasystems is laying off 4 per cent of its over 6,000-strong workforce. The company is anticipating a recession in 2023. In a filing with the US Securities and Exchange Commission (SEC), the firm said that a large amount of the charge is expected in the fourth quarter of 2022.


The company said that the reduction in the number of employees is part of the goal of improving the company’s go-to-market operating model. According to the Boston Business Journal, the company is engaged in a detailed review to improve its go-to-market operating model. It is said that the shareholders of Pegasystems have suffered heavy losses. Because, the stock price has come down by 69 percent and the returns in three years have also been disappointing for the investors.

The decision of Pegasystems will make it join the ranks of Amazon and Selfforce, which will layoff in the year 2023. Software company Amazon has announced the dismissal of about 18,000 employees. Whereas, Salesforce has asked around 7,000 employees to leave. It has been said in the report that in the year 2023, more than 28 thousand people have been thrown out of their jobs.
