Amul: RS Sodhi resigns from the post of MD of Amul, COO Jayen Mehta gets the responsibility.

Gujarat Co-operative Milk Marketing Federation Limited (GCMMF) MD RS Sodhi has resigned from his post. GCMMF COO Jayen Mehta will replace RS Sodhi. Explain that GCMMF is commonly known by the name of its brand Amul. According to media reports, Jayen Mehta has been given this responsibility temporarily.


RS Sodhi was associated with the company since 1982. He started his career as a Senior Sales Manager in the company. After this, he also held the position of General Manager (Marketing) of the company from 2000 to 2004. From June 2010, he was made the MD of Amul. After which he was heading the company as MD for the last 13 years. According to media reports, the decision to remove Sodhi from the post of MD was taken at the board meeting of the Gujarat Cooperative Milk Marketing Federation. Sodhi was given an extension of 5 years in the year 2017.


On the other hand, Jayen Mehta, who has been given the temporary responsibility of the post of MD, has been associated with Amul for the last 31 years. Jayen Mehta has served as the Brand Manager, Group Product Manager and General Manager of the company and currently holds the position of Chief Operating Officer in the company.


Talking about the company, Amul is a giant in the country’s dairy industry. In the financial year 2021-22, the annual turnover of the company was 61 thousand crore rupees. Amul is the country’s largest company in the food and FMCG sector. Also it is the eighth largest dairy organization in the whole world. This cooperative institute sells more than 150 lakh liters of milk every day. Out of this, 40 lakh liters of milk is consumed in Delhi NCR only.
