Airbus-Tata: Airbus and Tata Group will jointly set up a helicopter manufacturing factory, first delivery expected in 2026

Airbus and Tata Group are together going to set up a helicopter manufacturing factory in the country. Airbus Helicopters has announced this. The aviation company said in a statement that it will manufacture the civil range Airbus H-125 helicopter through the final assembly line (manufacturing unit). It will be produced in India. Exports will be made to some neighboring countries.

The statement said that under this partnership, Tata Group affiliate Tata Advanced Systems Limited (TASL) will set up the plant with Airbus Helicopters. This announcement has been made when French President Emmanuel Macron has come on a two-day visit to India as the chief guest at the Republic Day celebrations.

It further said, FAL in India will mainly undertake component assembly, installation of avionics and mission systems, electrical harnesses, hydraulic circuits, flight controls, fuel systems and integration of engines. It will also test and deliver the H-125 to customers in India and the region, according to the statement.

According to the statement, it will take up to two years for the FAL to be established. Delivery of the first Made in India H-125 is expected in early 2026. Airbus and Tata Group will jointly decide the location for setting up the final assembly line.

Airbus CEO Guillaume Faury said helicopters are essential for nation building. Made in India, the civil helicopter will not only be a symbol of self-reliant India, but will also bring out the true potential of the helicopter market in the country.

He said, we will build the final assembly line for the helicopter with our trusted partner Tata. This is Airbus’ commitment to fostering the aerospace ecosystem in India.
