Now you will soon be able to book Uber rides through Open Network for Digital Commerce (ONDC). For this, Uber has signed an agreement (MoU) with the government today i.e. on Thursday. After this facility, you will be able to book a ride for yourself even without Uber app.

On this occasion, Uber’s Global CEO Dara Khosrowshahi said that Uber is also planning to expand its low cost services in India, especially two-wheeler and three-wheeler services. Apart from this, the company is also starting bus services in some countries.

Understand here what is ONDC?

It connects both seller and buyer i.e. customer directly to each other. ONDC is a not for profit company. Many banks like SBI, HDFC are its shareholders. This company has the support of the Government of India. There are more than 35 thousand sellers all over India on ONDC. There are more than 38 lakh goods or services available for sale. You can order the item by choosing the category as per your need. Currently you can order goods in 6 categories.

It is necessary for ONDC to have a payment app.

Food available at cheap rates through ONDC

Food or goods are being available at cheaper rates by ordering through ONDC. It has been prepared by the Department for Promotion of Industry and Internal Trade (DPIIT). While food aggregators like Swiggy-Zomato charge 25-30% commission, ONDC charges just 3-5%. So ordering anything from this is up to 27% cheaper.
