Footwear will be made for Indians with ‘Bha’ code: Not American-European, now shoes will be made in Indian numbers, this will provide correct fitting.

The shoes and slippers available in India are of American or European sizes. This is the reason why they do not fit the feet of the people of our country. Actually, the feet of Indians are wider than those of Americans and Europeans, but companies prepare shoes and slippers on the basis of the length and width of the feet of Americans or Europeans. Now this system is about to change.

Now Indian standards for footwear are being prepared. From next year i.e. 2025, companies will separately produce footwear for Indians. For this, the code ‘Bha’ has been kept, which means India. For this, recognition is yet to be received from the Bureau of Indian Standards.

Survey conducted regarding foot size of Indians

Council of Scientific and Industrial Research and Central Leather Research Institute conducted a survey across India. It was also revealed that the size of women’s feet increases till the age of 11 years, whereas in men it continues to grow till 15-16 years. ‎‎‎‎‎‎‎‎‎‎‎‎

50% of footwear is being returned due to not being of correct size.

The biggest reason for this change is India’s big market. Every Indian here has an average of 1.5 shoes. 50% of footwear purchased online is returned because it is not the correct size. In the new system, now companies will have to make footwear in size 8 instead of size 10.
