Success: Second transplant of Neuralink’s brain chip completed, Elon Musk said – will now transplant eight patients
The second transplant of the brain chip of Elon Musk’s company Neuralink was successfully completed. Company owner Elon Musk has expressed happiness about this. He said that the second transplant is working very well. Now we will transplant eight more patients in 2024.
Neuralink is Musk’s brain technology startup. Neuralink aims to enable even those patients who are completely unable to do anything. With the help of Neuralink’s chip, a person can do many things just by thinking and his thinking can be seen on the computer. The company is transplanting Neuralink on its patients. Noland Arbang, the first patient after transplant, is playing video games. Internet surfing, social media posts and moving the laptop cursor.
Elon Musk said that initially Arbang had to face problems after the surgery. The wires of his implant had retracted. This caused a reduction in the electrodes measuring brain signals. This was fixed by Neuralink and is now working properly.
Meanwhile, Neuralink transplanted a brain chip in another patient. Elon Musk said that the second patient had the same spinal cord injury as the first patient. 400 electrodes of the implant are working on the brain of the second patient. He said the second implant is working well. It is doing better with multiple signals and electrodes.
How is the technology working?
When work on this entire project was going on, Elon Musk had told that Neuralink was preparing two devices. The first is a coin-sized chip, which will be implanted in the human head. With this, wires thinner than hair will emerge in which 1024 electrodes will reach different parts of the brain. The data received from these will go to computers through chips. Then researchers will study it. Apart from this chip, there will be a robot which will stitch the wires coming out of the Neuralink chip into the human brain with the help of a needle. Musk says that this procedure will be as easy as LASIC surgery. A demo of this chip was also given inside a pig in January. This had been on his mind for two months. Musk had also told some time ago that this chip has been installed in the brain of a monkey and it is also affecting him.
