Apple’s App Store gave sales of over Rs 44,000 crore to Indian developers
Last year, apps of Indian developers were downloaded more than 75 crore times from the App Store of American devices and technology company Apple. This has given sales of about Rs 44,447 crore to the country’s app developers. About 94 percent of this revenue has been received only by developers and businesses and no commission has been paid to Apple.
This information has been found in a study conducted by Professor Viswanath Pingali of Indian Institute of Management, Ahmedabad. This study has been published by Apple. In the last five years, the income of Indian developers on the App Store has increased more than three times. Last year, transactions worth about Rs 44,447 crore have been done in the country from Apple’s ecosystem in categories like general retail, travel, grocery, food delivery and cab services. Developers on the App Store have earned about Rs 38,906 crore from billings and sales of goods and services, about Rs 3,014 crore from in-app advertising and about Rs 2,527 crore from digital goods and services.
This study states that 79 percent of this revenue has come from users outside the country. Apps of Indian developers were among the 100 most downloaded last year. More than 2.2 crore users have visited the company’s app store in the country every week.
In India, the company has also prepared to increase the sales of its devices like iPhone. The company’s new stores in the country can be opened in DLF Mall of India in Noida in Uttar Pradesh and Kopa Mall in Pune in Maharashtra.
