OpenAI trying to establish its dominance in the Indian market, this is the masterplan

India remains an attractive destination for American tech giants, where big companies like Google and Meta are betting on its large and young population. The name of ChatGPT maker OpenAI is also going to be added to this list soon. The company is currently trying to expand its scope in India. These include opening a local office along with special products for India. In fact, the country has become the second largest market for ChatGPT at present after the US.

Let us tell you that OpenAI CEO Sam Altman visited India in February this year and during this time met the country’s IT Minister Ashwini Vaishnav and discussed collaboration. He said that it is amazing to see the rapid adoption of AI in India and this country is getting ahead of the world.

Office and employment

According to Bloomberg, OpenAI is looking for space for a data center with at least 1 gigawatt capacity in India. Meanwhile, it has also started the hiring process for 3 sales positions. The company also announced an education program for India last month. This will include funding for research and 5 lakh ChatGPT licenses will be provided to teachers and students across the country.

Current status of ChatGPT

OpenAI’s flagship product ChatGPT has received tremendous response in India. According to analytics firm AppFigures, this app was downloaded 10.2 crore times in India in August. This is much more than the 2.5 crore downloads in the same month last year. Since its launch, ChatGPT has had 111 million downloads in India, while it has 80 million downloads in the US.
