Rolls-Royce, one of the world’s leading luxury and defense engineering companies, is now embarking on a new chapter in India. CEO Tufan Erginbilgic stated that Rolls-Royce has a strong desire to make India its home market. This statement comes at a time when India and the UK are seriously considering a co-development program for next-generation fighter jet engines.
Rolls-Royce CEO Tufan Erginbilgic is currently visiting India with British Prime Minister Keir Starmer. Speaking in Mumbai on Wednesday, he said, “It is our strong desire for India to be the home of Rolls-Royce. We want to build on our strong and successful partnership and develop new capabilities in India.” He further stated that Rolls-Royce’s technology will help accelerate India’s journey towards a “developed India.”
India-UK Next-Generation Fighter Engine Deal
The Indian government is considering an agreement with the UK to co-develop next-generation fighter jet engines. If this deal is finalized, Rolls-Royce could develop these engines in partnership with an Indian company. Rolls-Royce is one of the few companies in the world that manufactures fighter jet engines. This support could provide a major boost to India’s defense self-reliance.
Rolls-Royce to Build Largest Capability Hub in India
The company recently expanded its Global Capability and Innovation Center in India. This center provides facilities such as digital, engineering, and enterprise services. According to Rolls-Royce, this center will become the company’s largest global hub in the future, supporting civil, defense, and power systems businesses. The company stated that it is working towards doubling its supply chain sourcing from India by 2030. Additionally, in-country manufacturing capabilities are being enhanced through local talent development and strategic partnerships.

British Prime Minister Keir Starmer described Rolls-Royce as a symbol of British excellence and said that the company’s expansion in India will elevate the economic and technological relationship between the two countries. He stated that Rolls-Royce’s dedication to growth in India will strengthen our Plan for Change strategy and create new employment and development opportunities for both countries.
