Hyundai Motor’s Big Bet on India: Investing ₹45,000 Crore Over the Next 5 Years
Speaking at the India Economic Dialogue, Tarun Garg, MD and CEO of Hyundai Motor India, stated that the company has already invested ₹40,000 crore by 2025. He further revealed that an additional investment of ₹45,000 crore will be made over the next five years.
Much Work Still Remains: Tarun Garg
He remarked that significant work still needs to be done to achieve the goal of a ‘Developed India’ (*Viksit Bharat*). He added that the company has actively worked on strengthening its supply chain within the global ecosystem.
Focus on ‘Make in India’
He also emphasized that Hyundai has placed a strong focus on the ‘Make in India’ initiative and does not view India merely as a consumer market. The company firmly believes that India should be perceived not just as a market for consumption, but as a pivotal hub for manufacturing and development.
Work on EV Charging Points
Tarun Garg stated that the company has undertaken extensive work regarding EV charging points across the country. Continuous efforts have been directed toward this end to bolster the infrastructure essential for electric vehicles.
He further added that Hyundai has significantly intensified its focus on electric vehicles. The company is actively working to further solidify its presence in this sector and is consistently investing in and developing areas related to EVs.
