Green SM Taxi Service Arrives to Challenge Ola and Uber; Launch Date Announced

Vietnam-based cab company Green SM is set to launch its services in India starting June 5, 2026. The company will begin its operations in the Delhi-NCR region, subsequently expanding to other major cities across the country. Green SM is poised to challenge major cab aggregators like Uber and Ola in India—companies that have long dominated the local market.

Utilizing VinFast Electric Cars

Green SM is backed by Vingroup, the parent company of VinFast. Green and Smart Mobility Joint Stock Company (Green SM) was founded in 2023 by VinFast founder Pham Nhat Vuong. The company currently provides cab services in Vietnam, Malaysia, and the Philippines. In India, Green SM’s operational model will distinguish itself from traditional cab services by exclusively utilizing VinFast electric vehicles.

Limo Green: The Debut Vehicle

Green SM’s inaugural fleet vehicle in India will be the ‘Limo Green,’ a fleet-specific variant of the VinFast VF MPV 7. This model is equipped with a 60.13 kWh battery pack. According to Tapan Kumar Ghosh, CEO of VinFast India, this model is slated to receive ARAI certification for fleet operations. The VF MPV 7 boasts an ARAI-rated range of 517 kilometers, delivering 204 horsepower and 280 Nm of torque.

Design and Feature Modifications

Compared to the standard VF MPV 7, the Limo Green will feature distinct badging and a streamlined set of features. The vehicle was recently spotted undergoing road testing in India, sporting a Cyan exterior finish, Green SM branding, and steel wheel caps. It is expected to feature a 7-seater configuration and an all-black interior theme. Additionally, VinFast’s VF 5 electric hatchback may also be incorporated into the fleet.

The entry of Green SM into the Indian market is expected to intensify competition within the electric taxi segment. The company’s focus is entirely on electric vehicles, which could give new momentum to EV-based cab services in the country.
