WhatsApp launched the ‘Meta Business Agent’ today at the third edition of Meta’s annual business summit in India. The social media giant is promoting this AI-powered solution for businesses, enabling them to automate customer interactions, sales, and daily operations. The company also introduced the Meta Business Agent platform for large enterprises. Alongside this, new business discovery features have been rolled out, allowing users to search for businesses directly within WhatsApp.
Meta Business Agent Arrives in India
Meta’s Business Agent helps businesses provide 24/7 customer support using AI. This assistant can answer customer queries, recommend products from a merchant’s catalog, book appointments, qualify leads, and assist with sales-related conversations. It also provides conversation summaries, customer insights, and updates on missed interactions. Businesses can configure the AI agent to transfer conversations to a human representative if the need arises.
The Meta Business Agent platform is designed for large companies looking to build, customize, and deploy AI-powered business agents at scale. It integrates with existing business systems such as Shopify, Zendesk, and Shopee, and also works with the WhatsApp Business Platform. The company highlighted businesses like Swiggy, Madhulika Enterprises, and Kaizen Adventours that are already utilizing this platform for customer support, lead management, and operational workflows.
In addition to the AI-related announcements, WhatsApp introduced discovery features that allow users to search for businesses by name directly within the app. Users will also be able to share business profiles with friends and family. These features aim to make it easier to find merchants without leaving the messaging app. Earlier this month, the company introduced a token-based pricing model for the WhatsApp Business Platform and expanded access to AI business agent capabilities globally.
