Lava and Flipkart Partner for ‘Virat’ Smartphones; Focus on Indian Technology

Lava and Flipkart have announced a partnership for a new smartphone lineup: the Lava Virat series. This series is being specifically designed for online shoppers in India. The collaboration leverages Lava’s indigenous design and manufacturing capabilities alongside Flipkart’s digital marketplace and distribution network to expand the reach of ‘Made in India’ mobile phones. Let’s take a closer look at the features and highlights of the Lava Virat series.

A Strategic Shift Towards Online-First Customers

With the launch of the Virat series, Lava is making a significant expansion into the online-first segment—a notable move for a brand that has traditionally maintained a strong presence in the offline market. Lava recorded 74% growth in its online business in 2025. This partnership with Flipkart aims to target digital consumers across major metropolitan cities as well as Tier-2 and Tier-3 markets.

This initiative combines Lava’s 17 years of experience in local product design, quality control, and manufacturing with Flipkart’s e-commerce infrastructure, making indigenous technology easily accessible to a wider customer base. The upcoming Virat series will cater to various price points, ranging from the budget segment (under ₹10,000) to the mid-range segment (up to ₹25,000). To meet diverse connectivity needs, the lineup will include both 4G and 5G variants.

While specific model names and exact pricing have not yet been disclosed, the companies have indicated that the series will focus on three primary features tailored for heavy internet users. There will be a strong emphasis on battery life, featuring optimized engineering to deliver up to two days of usage on a single charge. Imaging capabilities will be enhanced through the integration of AI-supported camera features. Additionally, hardware performance will be optimized for each segment to ensure competitive processing speeds. Under this partnership, joint planning is underway to establish the ‘Virat’ lineup as a distinct brand within the highly competitive Indian smartphone market. By leveraging Flipkart’s consumer insights and logistical reach, the partnership aims to forge a more precise connection between the domestic manufacturing pipeline and digital-first buyers.
