A new round of layoffs is underway at Apple, with the company cutting staff from several teams. Employees linked to the Siri digital assistant and Vision Pro headset are included in this list, as are members of the Intelligent Systems Experience team—a group within the software engineering organization known for developing specific AI features. The Vision Pro team is expected to bear the brunt of these cuts.
The majority of the layoffs will affect the Vision Pro team, which focuses on gaming and creating immersive video content for the headset. Reports indicate that over 200 jobs will be lost in total; 100 of these positions are within the Vision Pro organization, while the remaining 100 are from the Siri and software teams. In a statement, Apple acknowledged that it is reshuffling certain teams to improve business operations and enhance the user experience.
The company has assured employees that neither the Vision Pro nor the VisionOS operating system is being discontinued. Currently, Apple is focusing on the potential launch of smart glasses that would not support immersive video or advanced gaming titles—a concept still under consideration.
