Partnership between the Ministry of Tourism and InMobi: AI to boost India’s tourist destinations; here’s the plan

The Ministry of Tourism signed a Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) with InMobi on the occasion of World Tourism Day 2026. This partnership aims to promote India’s tourist destinations by leveraging AI and technology, showcasing these sites to audiences both within the country and across the globe. The agreement was signed at Bharat Mandapam in the presence of the Union Minister for Tourism and Culture, Gajendra Singh Shekhawat.

Highlighting the growing role of digital technology and artificial intelligence in the tourism sector, Shekhawat launched the ‘National Digital Tourism Stack’ and ‘Dekho Apna Desh 2.0’. He stated, “The goal is to make India the top destination for tourists. It is also crucial to extend the duration of tourists’ stays and strengthen the local economy. Glance—a flagship brand of the InMobi Group and an AI-first consumer engagement platform—will implement this partnership.”

Glance delivers content tailored to user interests directly onto smartphone lock screens and is viewed on 550 million devices worldwide. Subi Chaturvedi, Global Senior Vice President at InMobi, remarked that India’s tourism story should reach every Indian and every prospective visitor.

How will tourism gain a new dimension?

This initiative will inspire audiences to explore a wide array of Indian destinations. The Ministry, Incredible India, and Glance will collaborate to promote key tourist sites across the country. This content will be utilized to boost tourism and will include messages encouraging tourists to keep sites clean and care for monuments. Special emphasis will also be placed on connecting the youth with the country’s rich cultural heritage. AI-driven digital storytelling will bring these cultural experiences to the audience.

What role will technology and AI play? The Ministry will provide content, insights, and audio-visual resources. Glance will utilize its artificial intelligence (AI)-driven platform for content creation, curation, and distribution. The messages will be crafted in consultation with the Ministry. Both parties will collaborate to position India as a leading global cultural and tourism destination. This partnership will also promote campaigns centered on national priorities, major festivals, and international events.

What is the broader objective of this initiative?

This agreement has been forged under the National Digital Tourism Stack and ‘Dekho Apna Desh 2.0’. Its aim is to boost demand in the tourism sector and raise awareness about lesser-known destinations. It will present options to travelers by leveraging new-age technology, thereby encouraging tourism beyond the well-known, popular sites. This initiative aligns with the overarching vision of ‘Viksit Bharat@2047’. Furthermore, it will advance the Prime Minister’s call urging citizens to include Indian destinations in their holiday and wedding plans.
