Gemini 2.5-Pro and Google Beam launched at ‘Google I/O’ event: You will be able to talk in two different languages in video calling, Google search will get AI-powered results
Tech company Google’s annual developer conference ‘Google I/O 2025’ started on Tuesday (May 20) night. This time the company’s focus was completely on Artificial Intelligence (AI) and the company introduced many AI tools like Gemini 2.5, Google Beam, Imagine 4, Veio 3.
During this, the company’s CEO Sundar Pichai said that Google is now an ‘AI-first’ company. Gemini 2.5 and its updates (Pro and Flash) are being integrated into every product – Search, Gmail, Meet, Maps, Calendar. AI will now understand the user’s needs proactively, like Project Astra which helps by seeing the world through the camera.
Highlights from Google I/O 2025 event
Google Search: AI mode is now rolling out to all US users in Google Search. It is based on Gemini 2.5 and can handle complex queries, such as comparing products or booking tickets. It also has a ‘Deep Search’ feature, which searches hundreds of web pages and creates detailed, cited reports.
Gemini 2.5 Updates: Gemini 2.5 Pro and Gemini 2.5 Flash launched. Gemini 2.5 Pro adds ‘Deep Think’ mode, which considers multiple hypotheses for complex math and coding problems. At the same time, Gemini 2.5 Flash is a faster and cost-effective version, which has improved in reasoning, multimodality and coding.
Gemini Live Enhancements: Now available to all users on iOS and Android. It supports camera and screen sharing and will integrate with apps like Google Maps, Calendar, Tasks.
Google Beam: 3D video calling platform that does real-time speech translation with AI. It has been first used in HP devices.
Google Flow: An AI filmmaking tool based on Veo 3, Imagen 4 and Gemini models. It generates video and audio from natural language prompts.
Imagen 4: A new image generation model that is better at text rendering.
Veo 3: A video generation model that comes with native audio generation.
Google AI Ultra: This is available to subscribers in the US.
Personalized Smart Reply in Gmail: Gemini will analyze your emails and Drive documents and generate smart replies in your style. This feature will come to paid subscribers from this summer.
Google Meet Real-Time Translation: Rolled out today in paid plans. It does real-time translation while preserving the speaker’s voice and tone.
