HCLSoftware Acquires AI Data Analytics Startup Wobby

HCLTech has announced that its software division, HCLSoftware, is acquiring Wobby, an early-stage AI data analytics agents startup, for $5.2 million (4.5 million euros). The deal is expected to close by February 2026.  The acquisition of the Antwerp, Belgium-based startup will allow HCLSoftware to expand its capabilities in metadata management, data catalog, and data governance solutions—areas experiencing growing demand for HCLSoftware.

Company Statement

In a statement, the company said, “Adding agentic AI data analytics capabilities will enable customers to interact with their raw data and obtain fast and accurate business insights on demand.” Mark Potter, CEO of Actian and Portfolio General Manager of HCL Software’s Data and AI division, said, “Customers want self-service analytics powered by AI-driven insights they can trust.”

He added, “With Wobby, Actian delivers LLM-powered natural-language analytics on a unified, controlled semantic layer, enabling self-service analytics that provide context-rich, accurate insights and a foundation for scaling GenAI initiatives with confidence.”
