100 New Companies Like Reliance to be Created in India! Mukesh Ambani Says, “Don’t Fear AI, It Will Create Millions of Jobs”
The Adani Group and Italian aerospace giant Leonardo have announced a strategic partnership to establish an integrated helicopter manufacturing ecosystem in India. This move will be a significant step towards boosting ‘Make in India’ efforts and making the country more self-reliant. This manufacturing ecosystem will focus on meeting military demands and increasing India’s self-reliance in helicopter manufacturing. Adani Defence & Aerospace and Leonardo signed a Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) for this partnership at an event held in Delhi on Tuesday. This partnership will target the needs of the Indian armed forces, specifically for Leonardo’s advanced AW169M and AW109 Tracker helicopters.
Approximately 100 Helicopters Needed Annually for the Next 10 Years
A statement said that this collaboration will facilitate phased indigenization, robust maintenance, repair, and overhaul (MRO) capabilities, and comprehensive pilot training. India has a significantly low availability of helicopters, with fewer than 250 helicopters for its large population. It is estimated that the country will require approximately 100 helicopters annually for the next 10 years. Jeet Adani, Director of Adani Defence & Aerospace, said that they are laying the foundation for an aviation ecosystem that will serve the nation’s needs in both civil and defense sectors. He added that the partnership with Leonardo is based not only on shared expertise but also on a shared purpose. The Indian armed forces are estimated to require more than 1,000 helicopters in the coming decade.
Jeet Adani further stated, “Together, we will create an ecosystem on Indian soil that integrates manufacturing, assembly, training, and world-class support.” Ashish Rajvanshi, CEO of Adani Defence and Aerospace, said that this partnership is significant given the estimated demand for more than 1,000 helicopters by the Indian armed forces in the coming decade. Leonardo is a leading global company in the aerospace, defense, and security sectors. Gian Piero Cutillo, Managing Director of Leonardo Helicopters, said that India is a large market and the need for helicopters in the country’s armed forces is constantly growing.
