Chhatrapati Sambhajinagar Receives 35 New Electric Buses; CM Devendra Fadnavis Flags Them Off

To improve the public transport system in Chhatrapati Sambhajinagar, Maharashtra, 35 new electric buses have been introduced. Chief Minister Devendra Fadnavis recently flagged off these buses. Their introduction will provide a comfortable travel experience for city residents while also helping to reduce environmental impact. All the buses are air-conditioned (AC) and have been operating on the city’s roads since November 2.

Supplied by Olectra Greentech Limited

These electric buses were manufactured by Olectra Greentech Limited, a leading Indian manufacturer of electric commercial vehicles. Chief Minister Devendra Fadnavis inaugurated the buses on November 1 during an event held at the city’s Divisional Sports Complex. These buses are part of an initiative to modernize the public transport system of the Chhatrapati Sambhajinagar Municipal Corporation. Evey Trans will be responsible for their maintenance. Bus services for passengers on various routes across the city commenced on November 2.

9-Meter-Long Buses Equipped with AC

These new electric buses from Olectra are 9 meters long and utilize ‘blade battery’ technology. They feature a robust monocoque design and are equipped with front and rear air suspension, which minimizes jolts for passengers during the journey. For enhanced safety, the buses include an Anti-lock Braking System (ABS), regenerative braking, and disc brakes at both the front and rear. Additionally, air curtains have been installed at both passenger doors.

Features Ranging from CCTV to USB Charging

These electric buses come equipped with a variety of features designed for the convenience of passengers. These buses are equipped with CCTV cameras, digital destination boards, and an announcement system to provide essential information to passengers. Additionally, they feature a vehicle location tracking system, USB charging ports, and a digital instrument cluster. These features ensure a better travel experience for passengers, while the CCTV cameras help strengthen security.

Helping to Reduce Pollution

A key advantage of these electric buses is that they produce zero tailpipe emissions. Furthermore, they operate with less noise compared to conventional diesel buses, which helps in reducing both air and noise pollution in the city. The introduction of these buses offers people a better alternative to using private vehicles, encouraging the use of public transport and reducing reliance on traditional fossil fuels.

Olectra Buses Operating in Over 55 Cities Across the Country

Mahesh Babu, Managing Director of Olectra Greentech, stated that India is making rapid progress toward clean and sustainable public transport. According to the company, more than 4,500 of its electric buses are currently operating in over 55 cities across the country, having collectively covered a distance of over 750 million kilometers. He expressed his gratitude to the Government of Maharashtra and the Chhatrapati Sambhajinagar Municipal Corporation for their support and trust.
