Airtel Strengthens 5G Network in North India; Deploys Over 2,900 Sites Across 77 Districts

Airtel has announced the deployment of more than 2,900 new 5G sites in the Upper North region over the past 12 months. The company states that the objective of this network expansion is to provide customers with faster data speeds, improved coverage, and more reliable connectivity. With this expansion, Airtel’s 5G network now reaches 77 districts across Punjab, Haryana, Himachal Pradesh, and Jammu & Kashmir, benefiting an estimated 28.6 million (2.86 crore) customers.

In a press release, Airtel revealed that, on average, more than eight new 5G sites were activated daily over the last year. This network expansion has brought high-speed connectivity to major cities, rapidly developing towns, and remote rural areas. Airtel says this will enhance the experience for customers regarding their daily digital needs.

According to Airtel, the new 5G infrastructure will facilitate a better experience for services such as high-definition video streaming, fast file downloads, online education, remote work, and digital payments. The company claims that customers in both urban and rural areas will benefit from this network expansion.

Following this expansion, Airtel’s 5G service reach has been significantly strengthened across all districts of Punjab, Haryana, Himachal Pradesh, and Jammu & Kashmir. The company aims to deliver high-speed connectivity to a wide range of users, including general consumers, students, small businesses, large enterprises, and government institutions.

Anupam Arora, CEO of Airtel (Upper North), stated that the demand for data is rising rapidly across Punjab, Haryana, Himachal Pradesh, and Jammu & Kashmir. He added that through the deployment of over 2,900 new 5G sites, the company is working towards providing faster speeds, better coverage, and a more reliable network experience to its more than 28.6 million customers in the region. According to them, this investment by Airtel reflects the company’s commitment to strengthening digital connectivity in the region and building a future-ready network.
