Bilibili App: China’s Bilibili Set to Challenge YouTube! Ready for iOS Launch After Android
China’s Bilibili app is gearing up for a global launch. Often referred to as the “YouTube of China,” the app is already available on the Google Play Store and is set to launch on iOS very soon. Bilibili is a popular video-streaming and community platform focused on anime, gaming, and user-generated content—much like Google’s YouTube. The app is now fully prepared to challenge YouTube and is ready to be made available to users worldwide.
China’s popular video-streaming platform, Bilibili, has officially launched in the global market. The company has ambitious plans for global expansion, an announcement made via its official account on the social media platform X. The app is already available for download on the Google Play Store.
Bilibili is planning to introduce an English-language version of the site. The requirement for identity verification has been removed for its new international app; users will no longer need a passport or other ID documents to create an account. Previously, users outside China had to undergo identity verification to use the app, but it is now becoming accessible to everyone. Users across the globe will be able to create accounts on the Chinese platform and use it just like YouTube.
According to a new X account dedicated to marketing for global creators, the content on the US and Chinese sites will be identical. A pitch document shared with creators describes Bilibili’s audience as well-educated Gen Z individuals. Furthermore, a marketplace for brand partnerships is also being developed. The company is also hiring community managers in Los Angeles, London, Mexico City, São Paulo, Istanbul, and Tokyo.
