Semiconductor News: Speaking at the IFQM Symposium 2026 in New Delhi, Jyotiraditya M. Scindia stated that India is working to boost semiconductor manufacturing. The government aims to establish approximately 8-9 semiconductor fabrication plants within the country.

Jyotiraditya M. Scindia revealed that one of these semiconductor fabrication plants is being set up in Assam. Semiconductor chips are essential for everything from consumer electronics to various forms of modern technology. Consequently, increasing domestic production is considered crucial for India’s technological and manufacturing capabilities.

Targeting 10% of global 6G patents: Scindia also outlined India’s preparations regarding 6G technology. He mentioned that the government is collaborating with IITs to formulate the necessary standards for 6G technology.

India aims to secure a 10% share of total global patents related to 6G. This means the government intends to strengthen its role not merely in the usage of 6G technology, but also in its development and the establishment of associated standards.

Scindia remarked that India could emerge as a significant global benchmark for quality, innovation, and self-reliance. He described technology, digital innovation, and connectivity as vital steps toward a developed India.

Industry stalwarts also shared their views on quality and innovation at the event. S.N. Subrahmanyan, Chairman and Managing Director of Larsen & Toubro, emphasized that quality is paramount in infrastructure projects and must be ingrained in an organization’s culture.

Tata Sons Executive Chairman N. Chandrasekaran highlighted the progress made in developing sustainable infrastructure and institutions in India. He emphasized that investments in manufacturing, precision manufacturing, education, and skills are crucial for economic growth.
