PC demand in India increases, HP becomes top brand in the December quarter

In the year 2020, there has been a lot of demand for personal computers in India. In the December quarter last year, total sales were 2.9 million PCs. This includes laptops, desktops and work stations, up 27 percent over the previous year. If you talk about laptop, then a growth of 6% has been recorded in it. Laptop shipments during this period stood at around 7.9 million. In the calendar year 2020, shipments of 10.2 million PCs have been made in India, which is 6.4% lower than the previous year. While desktop shipments declined by 33.2 percent.

Laptop shipment boom

According to the IDC report, laptop shipments have registered a rapid growth due to lack of entry-level CPUs and panel effects. PC growth has increased due to demand for online learning and notebooks. Notebook PCs have become the fastest-growing category in India, which shows that gaming demand has increased in India. The consumer segment in India has recorded an annual growth of 74.1%. While the enterprises segment recorded 14.1 percent annual growth.

Dell left HP behind

Talking by brand, Dell has overtaken HP and thus Dell has become India’s leading PC brand with 27 percent market share. It registered a growth of 57.1 percent in the December quarter. Dell has emerged as the leading brand in the business segment. However, HP is the leading brand in the consumer segment. It recorded a 47 percent growth in the segment. Chinese brand Lenovo ranks third in this list.
