Aero India signed 266 contracts worth Rs 80,000 crore, representatives of 700 defense companies participated.

Bangalore. 266 declarations of partnership were signed in Aero India. These include 201 Memorandum of Understanding (MOU), 53 major announcements and 9 product launches. It is believed that a business of about Rs 80,000 crore can be achieved in Aero India.


An MoU has been signed between Hindustan Aeronautics Limited and Saffron Helicopter Engines of France for design, development, manufacturing and lifetime collaboration of helicopter engines. The agreements and MoUs were formally signed in an event called ‘Bandhan’ ceremony. The event was attended by top personalities from the Indian defense industry and senior military officials, including Defense Minister Rajnath Singh.


The Bandhan ceremony saw 266 partnerships worth Rs 80,000 crore, including 201 MoUs, 52 major announcements, 9 product launches and transfer of technology, Defense Ministry said in a statement.


An MoU has also been signed between Bharat Electronic Limited and Aeronautical Development Agency (ADA) for Advanced Medium Combat Aircraft (AMCA). Among the products introduced during Aero India is the Short Range Surface to Air Missile (Bharat Dynamics Limited).


Apart from this, Semi-Active Laser based Anti-Tank Guided Missile developed by Bharat Dynamics Limited was also presented here. The missile weighs 23 kg and can be used in a variety of terrains on moving and stationary targets such as tanks and infantry combat vehicles.


The 14th edition of Aero India was inaugurated by Prime Minister Narendra Modi on Monday at the Yelahanka Air Force Station complex outside Bengaluru. About 700 defense companies and representatives from about 100 countries participated in it.


The Defense Minister said that Aero India showcased the world’s ‘New Defense Sector’ of ‘New India’, which has not only evolved in the last few years, but is also fully prepared to keep pace with the defense sectors of leading countries.
