Suspension: Steel Ministry suspends three directors of SAIL and NMDC, action against 26 others

The Steel Ministry has suspended two directors of Steel Authority of India Limited (SAIL) and the director of National Mineral Development Corporation (NMDC) with immediate effect. Besides, 26 other officers of SAIL have also been suspended. This action has been taken due to misconduct.

SAIL told BSE that it has taken this action due to violation of its code of conduct. SAIL said it has suspended its director (commercial) VS Chakraborty and director (finance) AK Tulsiani. Both of them are board level officers. 26 other officers have also been suspended with immediate effect.

These also include ED (Finance and Accounts) SK Sharma, ED (Commercial) Vinod Gupta, ED (Sales and ITD) Atul Mathur and ED (Marketing Services) RM Suresh. Cell said that this matter is related to some investigations being conducted as per the instructions of the Lokpal.

On this issue, SAIL Chairman Amarendu Prakash said that the company’s business is running normally and this will not affect the company’s performance. SAIL is the country’s largest steel making company, while NMDC is the largest iron ore producing unit.
