Air India introduces fare lock feature: Customers will be able to lock fare for 48 hours, fee will be Rs 500 to 1500
Tata Group’s airline Air India on Wednesday introduced ‘Fare Lock’ feature. Through this, customers will be able to lock the fare selected by them for 48 hours. However, for this they will have to pay Rs 500 to 1500.
This will help customers avoid unexpected fare fluctuations, the airline said in an official statement. This service is available only for flight options at least 10 days away from the date of booking.
For this facility, customers have to choose their preferred flight option and select the fare lock option in the booking flow. After this, non-refundable fees will have to be paid. Customers can later return to their booking through the ‘Manage Booking’ option.
Three big things related to Fair Lock feature:
According to Air India’s website, no modification can be made in the booking during the fare lock period.
Fare lock will be applicable only for Air India flights booked through Air India website.
The fee paid for Fare Lock is non-refundable and cannot be adjusted against the flight fare.

Air India had also changed its baggage policy for domestic flights. In the company’s domestic flights, a passenger can now carry only 15 kg of luggage in the minimum fare category. Earlier there was a limit of carrying luggage up to 20 KG in the cabin.
