Pirojsha to Become New Chairperson of Godrej Group; Nadir to Step Down: Sold Villas Worth ₹300 Crore in a Single Day During Demonetization; Interned with Hillary Clinton

The 127-year-old Godrej Group has formally announced its succession plan. The group’s current Chairman, Nadir Godrej, is set to retire from his position in August 2026. Succeeding him, Pirojsha Godrej (45)—the son of his elder brother, Adi Godrej—will take the helm of the group.

Pirojsha will assume the role of Chairperson for the ‘Godrej Industries Group’ and ‘Godrej Industries Limited’ effective August 14, 2026. This transition is viewed as a significant step toward handing over leadership to the group’s new generation and paving the way for future strategic expansion.

When the group’s current Chairman, Nadir Godrej, retires in August 2026, he will be 75 years old. Following his retirement, he will not completely disassociate himself from the company; instead, he will continue to guide the new generation in the capacity of ‘Chairman Emeritus.’

During his tenure, the group achieved numerous milestones, and now Pirojsha is poised to carry this legacy forward. Currently, Pirojsha serves as the Chairperson of the group’s Properties, Capital, and Ventures businesses.

Pirojsha’s Journey: Transforming ₹40 Crore in Sales into ₹30,000 Crore

Educated at Wharton and Columbia University, Pirojsha began his career with ‘Godrej Properties’ in 2004.

Expansion: At the time of his arrival, the company’s operations were limited to just two cities; he subsequently expanded its footprint to 10 cities.

Team and Revenue: When he first joined, the team consisted of a mere 30 to 40 individuals, and annual sales stood at approximately ₹40 crore. A New Milestone: Today, the company’s sales have surpassed ₹30,000 crore, and the next target is ₹40,000 crore. The IPO of ₹468 crore, launched in 2010, is considered one of its major achievements.
