India’s Major Leap in Semiconductors! This Company Enters the Japanese Market
Indian electronics manufacturing company Kaynes Technology is now working to further strengthen its business on an international scale. The company is planning to expand into Japan’s semiconductor market. According to a report, its subsidiary, Kaynes Semicon, is seeking to secure orders from Japanese chip manufacturers.
Notably, the company aims to provide services to Japanese firms that manufacture chips for the automotive sector. Given the extensive use of semiconductor chips in modern cars, this sector holds significant potential.
Kaynes Semicon provides semiconductor assembly and packaging services. The company has established a back-end processing plant in Gujarat, where large-scale production commenced this year. It expects this facility to enable it to better meet the needs of both domestic and international clients.
To expand its reach in the Japanese market, Kaynes has recently appointed sales representatives there. The company is preparing to send product samples to Japanese customers during the 2026 fiscal year, aiming to familiarize potential clients with its technology and quality standards.
According to reports, Kaynes Semicon is capable of assembling a wide range of semiconductors. It is specifically targeting automakers and chip companies looking to outsource a portion of their chip production.
Major Japanese companies are also assisting Kaynes in this endeavor. Aoi Electronics, a Japanese back-end service provider, is helping set up the production line, while the trading firm Mitsui is assisting with the procurement of raw materials and essential supplies. The company believes these partnerships will help it rapidly expand its customer base in Japan.
For the past few years, the Government of India has been emphasizing the promotion of the semiconductor industry within the country. This sector has received various forms of support and incentives under Prime Minister Narendra Modi’s “Make in India” initiative. Kaynes Technology has also leveraged government semiconductor incentive schemes to set up its plant in Gujarat.
Established in 1988, Kaynes Technology is headquartered in Karnataka. The company provides design, engineering, and manufacturing services across several sectors, including automotive, industrial, aerospace, defense, medical, railways, IT, and the Internet of Things (IoT).
The company is listed on the Bombay Stock Exchange (BSE). Its revenue for the fiscal year ending in March 2025 stood at approximately ₹2,720 crore. As of June 17, 2026, the company’s market capitalization was around ₹21,824 crore.
