The Ventyra R1 is priced at just $179 (approximately ₹17,000). Within just a few days of its launch, over 750 people have backed the project on Kickstarter. With the global focus currently shifting toward reducing fossil fuel consumption, alternatives like wind and solar energy are proving invaluable. In this context, the device created by DIY Electronics brings clean energy generation to the user.
What is the Ventyra R1?
The Ventyra R1 is a specially designed portable wind turbine. The focus was on making it compact and lightweight, ensuring it is easy to carry anywhere. DIY Electronics has achieved an ideal balance between weight and power output; the turbine is easy to set up, generates 50 watts of electricity, and weighs no more than one kilogram.
How does it work?
The turbine’s blades are foldable, much like a tripod stand. It stands on the ground supported by four stakes, similar to an outdoor tent. This unit can generate electricity even at low wind speeds, such as 6 mph. The electricity generated by the turbine is transmitted to a power hub via an XT60 output cable, allowing users to easily connect their devices and immediately utilize the clean energy produced.
It is also equipped with a tail vane that enables it to automatically align itself with the wind direction, eliminating the need for users to manually track wind flow. The power hub offers versatile connectivity; this portable wind turbine can charge phones, smartphones, tablets, power banks, cameras, emergency lights, and even laptops. With a peak load of 75W and 12V DC support, the Ventyra R1 portable wind turbine can charge a phone in approximately 35 minutes during strong winds. For users wishing to remain off-grid for extended periods, multiple R1 units can be connected to a single power hub to facilitate faster charging. Although primarily a wind energy system, the R1 can also be used in conjunction with solar panels.
